Small things can make your day

Rainier Cherries.

That is all I have to say.

These little babies are $4.99 / lb - but Oh.My.Yum.  They are delicious!  If you have only had the traditional cherries from your produce department, give these a try.  Not only are the scrumptious, they do not leave your (or your child's) fingers stained red - a bonus for any mess-loathing mom like myself.

In other exciting news, the new shoes I ordered from Ebay arrived today.  Isn't it just the greatest when you order something, and it is at your front door before the "expected arrival date"?!  I placed the order on Monday & they were delivered on Wednesday.  Now that is what I call service!  I love these running shoes, but I won't be wearing them for running, I will likely keep wearing my Saucony shoes that I've broken in for running and save these adorable pink Nike's for just fun wear & work wear.

Now won't these jazz up my boring blue scrubs??

Sister Bonding

I was able to spend the day with my sister and nephew yesterday.  My sister lives in St. Cloud & has a 14 month old lil guy.  Her husband has long stretches of work where he is away from home, so when he is gone she likes to travel to "the cities" (we talk like St. Cloud is WAY up north or something, when really it is only 1.5 hours from Minneapolis).  When she comes here we always seem to end up at a store shopping for ourselves instead of taking our kids to some super fun kid place like we had intended.  Yep, we are those moms who are shopping in Heartbreaker with a 3 yr old & 1 yr old tootling around the store - and proud of it.  But really, sometimes you just need some girl time and if the only way you can get it is to tote the kiddies along, so be it.  So yesterday we went to Heartbreaker and here are some of the goodies we found:

I know it is 90° outside, but I can't resist a cute pink/brown polka dot scarf.  It will be scarf weather again before you know it.  By the way, I have yet to mention my scarf addiction....

This adorable turquoise, silver & cream bracelet was maked down to $2.99!  A steal!  I love it, it has just the right amount of sparkle.

We also wanted to get a picture of the two kids together as a gift for our parents.  This August our parents will be celebrating their 40 year wedding anniversary!  Quite an accomplishment!  So we had the idea to frame a nice picture of their grandkids for them (I really don't think they have one picture of the two kids together... crazy!)  So off to a scenic park we went with coordinated outfits on the two kids.  Easy right?  NOT so easy!  We were not prepared for the challenge ahead of us.  I don't know how professional photographers get such awesome pictures of kids.  I guess that is what seperates us from the professionals - that magic thing they do to get 3 year olds & 1 year olds to stay still enough to get a photo.  I will post the top contenders once the pictures are sent to me.

High Five For Friday!

Happy Friday!

While everyone else's work week ends on Friday - mine is just about to begin (well, my work outside the home that is). I work on weekends and stay at home M - F with my sweet girl. So happy Friday to those of you looking forward to the weekend & happy Friday to us "weekend warriors".

My top 5:

1.The Dells
My brave little girl tackling all of the waterslides at our resort in Wisconsin Dells.

2. Dancing queen
Watching my husband and daughter dancing the night away at the wedding we went to in Wisconsin.

3. Patriotic toes
A very patient 3 year old sat still enough for these fun toes.

4. Patriotic toast
A shout out to Pinterest for this idea.

5. Beat the heat, not the pavement
Normally this would NOT be anywhere near one of my favorite things, but with the heat wave we've been having I am thankful to be running inside, in air conditioning.

Friday My Way

One of my favorite drinks right now is a "bubble tea" from this little tea shop near me called the Tii Cup.  So I decided to treat myself today and ordered a large (only 50¢ more!) raspberry green tea with passion fruit popping Boba balls (clear pearls filled with fruit juice that pop with every bite).  A delicious treat on a 95° Minnesota morning!  Let me tell you - I am hooked on this tea. If a drink from this place didn't cost me nearly $5, I'd be there daily. But because of the price and because my husband thinks it is crazy for me to spend that kind of money on tea, ice and little juice balls - I abstain and limit my expensive tea to once a week :)

Then I drug my poor three year old daughter to a thrift store.  Another of my favorite pass times.  I could spend all day in these stores (if I had the time BY MYSELF.) The one I stopped at today was called Arc Value Village and it turned out to be a very fruitful trip!  Because I had my daughter along, we were only in there about 40 minutes but it was long enough to find:

A cute Thirty-One lunch tote for $1.99 (seriously, don't these bags cost around $15?!)  I see all the girls bringing their lunches to work in these adorable totes - now I can too!

A cross body Sherpani purse for $7.99 (now I know these bags retail for $30+.)  I am a sucker for a functional bag that looks good (and it has a pretty lining inside - love that!)

And a super cute white ruffled clutch for $3.99 - for the next time I get all fancy and go out on the town.

In order to make it worth my daughters' time, I bought her this adorable dress marked $3.99 but 1/2 off!  Isn't she the cutest?!

Blog Intro

Why I blog:

I have recently become slightly (okay, maybe totally) obsessed with reading Blogs.  So I decided to try one of my own.  This isn't my first Blogging experience - I started one when my daughter was younger aimed at keeping a digital "baby book".  But, like other things, it became difficult to maintain as my life with a child became busier & busier.  This Blog is different - it is just for me (and hopefully for other people who are interested in the things that I post).  It will be about anything and everything that brings happiness to my life.

I hope to keep this one going... and I hope you enjoy it!
